Here's a dumb question: how high can the water pump be from the tank?

My shorty is pretty limited on space, so the fresh/grey tanks are going below. But there's no room for the pump down there, so it'll have to go up in the cabin.

I have a 24V 3.0gpm shurflo, is there any issue with have the pump be 2 or 3 feet higher than the bottom of the tank? Do I need to put a check valve on the outlet of the tank to keep the line full of water? Or is it an issue if it sucks water up to pump, then the pipe drains and fills with air, only to repeat the process every time I use water?

The pump, or the website, should have a flow v. lift graph either in the manual or on the web.

The pump rating is for 0 lift (head) and no obstructions like 90 degree bends, etc.
