Installing Girard water heater next to diesel fuel filler

Hey folks--

The best (only) place to install my Girard water heater (cutting hole in side of bus) is about 8 inches away from the diesel fuel filler. Any issues with this? I don't think so but I also don't want to do something colossally stupid.

Thanks for the input!

As often as I have had the automatic shut off pump nozzles fail to shut off and slosh diesel fuel all down the side of my bus, personally I'd be concerned. Even though diesel is hard to ignite, evaporating fumes crossing over your heater could be a problem. As long as you can be sure the heater won't kick on during fueling you'll probably be OK though it wouldn't be my favorite design.
