Municipal Water Connection

Hi,

I have a water supply box with a gravity fill and a municipal water connection. I called Pentair, the manufacturer of the water pump and was told I need a pressure regulator.

But then, if I use only the water pump, how do I keep the water from backflowing out that municipal connection?

When you gravity fill, the water goes to the fresh water tank and is pressurized by the water pump. The city water connection bypasses the tank and pump and connects directly to the water line down stream of the pump. You need a check valve between the city water inlet and the water pump to avoid backfilling the tank. RV water pumps have an internal check valve so no need to install one.

The pressure regulator installs between the city water connection and the cold water line and protects your system from high water pressure sometimes found at RV parks.

Stop me if this stupid. But are all pressure regulators rated the same? Or do you need a certain psi to slow it down to?

The deal is that some of the components are only good to a certain PSI, in my case the pump. The RV industry makes 40-50 PSI pressure regulators. There’s one made by Valtera that’s adjustable.
