Skoolie Washing Machine

In the planning phase. Curious if anyone has done a washing machine in their Skoolie if so what kind of plumbing did you use? I was pondering Pex.... thanks in advance

I have an washer/dryer all-in-one unit that I used in my house. I never used the dryer portion of the unit as it never completely dried the clothes; I opted instead to use a separate spin dryer which removes 95% of the water left in the clothes, and then threw them into a regular dryer to finish drying. My clothes would be completely dry in 20 minutes in the dryer.



I am still doing the demo on my short bus, but intend to use a mini washer/spin dryer (similar to the old Hoover washers with spin dryer), along with a compact 110v dryer (if I can fit it in), to do the clothes. So, I will not need any special or traditional washer/dryer hook ups.


Laundry will be a little more labor intensive, but it is no big deal to me.

I have a Splendide washer/dryer that's waiting to be installed. I'll use 1/2" PEX for its supply lines, just like everything else in the bus, and its drain will be a 1" flex hose leading back to the 1-1/2" main drain pipe into the grey tank. Figuring out its air outlet and lint trap is more of a problem!

I have a 4 cu. ft. washing machine that is almost full-sized but has the kind of hookup a portable washer has, that attaches to a faucet and drains into the faucet's sink (in my case it will be over the small step tub that will form that base of my shower stall). So, no plumbing at all, thankfully.

We have a cabinet built into the kitchen that will have one of these on a heavy-duty drawer. The plumbing supply lines will be in 1/2" PEX and the drain will go to the gray tank. We are a family of 8 and will be using the bus for vacations, not full time. The main purpose will be for washing swimsuits and for emergencies.

That might work. You'll have to let us know. My wish would be for a Splendide vented unit, though that would only be if I was going fulltime.

I am looking into the portable 1 cf washer / spin machines.. they are about 16"*17"... These ones are all 110vac but I would like to know if the actual motors are DC.

I bought this Magic Chef unit from the local Liquidation Hut. Had a dent in it so I paid $40 for it. Most washers use a lot of water and if heat dried use a massive amount of electricity. I'll just use mine as a portable and hang dry.
