Anyone familiar with these large coolant heaters?

I am considering buying one of these but I can find zero information on them other than the Ali express ads. I am not sure I want to be first, but the price is very attractive. I would buy the 35kw unit.

Shipping is twice the cost of the unit.

Well the same again, but still, $600 for 100000 btu which would preheat the motor, warm the whole bus and have lots left over for hot showers.

those are similar to the Webasto DBW and Scholastic series 30kw units.. essentially the burner system in those is just like a residential oil-fired Boiler.. some use a glowplug.. many use a sparker to spark ignite the fuel from the nozzle.. the Nozzles used in these are often the same exact nozzles in residentiual units.. (nozzles come in different sizes and are stamped with a number indicating flow and degree of spread)..

these type of units usually have a hinge where you can swing the burner side open and service the nozzle, ignition, fan and fuel pump either on the vehicle or simply remove that section of the heater without disturbing the coolant lines..

I have a real webasto DBW2010 and a chinese version on the bench in my garage.. I havent done a good comparison yet but at some point in the near future I'll be tearing the chinese heater down into pieces for a look. the webasto is already in pieces.. its motor is burnt up and the webastos use a specific motor that is $$$$$$

unlike the other style heaters which use a clickety dosing pump. these typically have a mechanical fuel pump driven by the fan motor to build up the pressure necessary for the nozzle (usually 100 PSI).. this is again just like a residential oil-burner.

Any idea how loud they are? I do not want a roaring blast furnace under the bus in a campground. That would be rude.

They definitely are not whisper quiet.. the unit itself is a fan motor running at something along the lines of 4000 RPM. So it’s a bit of a whine the real noise comes from the fire. The exhaust is somewhat noisy.. you can put a muffler on the exhaust. One of my Chinese units came with one . And it actually does pretty good but I am not sure I’d run it in a campground where people are sleeping in tents.. if there’s a decent DB app for iPhone I can take some readings from my units.

I use "dB Meter" by Vlad Polyanskiy on my IPhone

4.6 rating and seems to be accurate. I use it for my camping generators to determine the dampening of different configurations of shields and reflectors.
