Cadillackid, what do you know about soft start AC?

Yesterday at teh RV lot I ran into one of the neighbors I hadn't seen in a LONG while. He pulled his RV from the lot to install solar panels. We got to talking about the bus, conversions, blogs, etc. Anywho, short story long, he also installed a soft start AC. Says he can run his 13,500 BTU AC off his 2,000w inverter. Recommended these guys.

His solar setup is fairly small and I'm not sure its purpose as he's only making 800 watts. He went with 100w panels. They are small (both dimensionally & electrically). If/when I get to that point, I want +300w a panel. A quick google search looks like there are a couple of panels putting out +400w these days. SunPower rates theirs at 435w (81"x41"). Hopefully the output keeps going up while prices go down. That's the theory anyway. Not that I'm anywhere near ready to worry about electric yet.
