Chevy Express 3500 Diesel Heater Fuel Pickup

I’m researching the installation of an Espar or Wabatso heater in my 2007 Chevy Express-based Thomas Minotour. I’m trying to figure out fuel pickup. Does anyone know if there’s an auxiliary fuel port? If it doesn’t have one will I be able to tee off the fuel line or am I going to have to install a standpipe/diptube?

Thanks

ie not seen a tank that actually has a second diptube already in it, many tanks do have a threaded boss already on them that you can use to drop a new tube in.. thats the way one of my busses was.. the other I drilled a hole and used the insert assembly provided with the heater and dropped a second tube in.. i set my tube about 3" above the engine dip tube so that way if I accidentilly left my coolant heater on I wont run the bus out of fuel.. ill still have a few inches of fuel left that i can drive on after the heater runs it out..

Yes that is usually how it's done, if you aren't adding a second auxiliary tank.

The latter strategy is better for real boondocking, especially if you rig a way to transfer between them as needed.
