Dometic Brisk II AC Freezing up :(

Anyone had a RV style freezing AC issue?

Unit is a dometic brisk air II, with ceiling controls, non ducted. I was down in waterton AB area this weekend and it would freeze up in 10-20 minutes. I had to keep cycling off the compressor and running the fan to defrost it and there would be a giant gush of water from the drainage channel on the roof. Pain in the butt.

Online says either its humid or I was running the fan on low, neither which are true. I was running the unit on full blast and it was dry as f*@$ down there.

I took the cover off today and the condenser is not dirty at all, nor is anything blocking airflow. The baffle that separates warm air going into the unit and the chilled air exiting the unit is well sealed with no leaks.

I know the photo looks like styrofoam but thats an ice block!

does the freezing occur evenly on the coil or does it start at one and and work its way across.. if its freezing quick and freezing appears to start evenly on the coil then its likely an airflow problem.. you need to check the inside coils on the side which the fan blows.. im guessing what we are viewing is the side with the air vents where the air exits... coils get the dirtiest where the fan blows on them...

rememebr the condenser is the OUTSIDE (hot) coil and the evaporator is the inside (cold) coil..

its also possible it could be a little low on freon..if thats the case the coil will start to freeze at one end and ice works its way across..

Freezing starts on the lower half and works its way up, but all fairly quickly, within 30 minutes.

The picture above is the warm air intake from inside my rig.

I took the outside cover off yesterday and the coils are clean as can be, no dust/dirt/debris.

As for airflow, I had the fan set on high at all times and when tis not frozen up, theres a good amount of cooled air being blown out of the unit into the bus.

my best guess is that its just a little low on refrigerant.. means theres some type of leak someplace.. probably a really slow one..

possibly a leak in it fro mthe factory? or they didnt get a perfect charge in it fro mthe factory? whats even more wierd is the older units used to have a freeze sensor that would cancel the compressor if the coils froze.. but apparently this one does not...
