Factory Evaporator Unit Cover Ideas

We are less than two weeks away from finishing our build and hitting the road. One of the last things that needs to be done is cover up our Carrier AC unit that is in the front of our bus. Somewhere along the way in our build and between moving and cleaning out junk from the garage we got rid of the plastic cover. I had planned to just cover the unit with wood and make is look like part of the cabinets. Now I’m having second thoughts about moisture forming inside the evaporator and having issues with wet wood. I’m thinking of ways to waterseal the wood before installing first. Maybe use cedar or cypress and spar urethane the crap out of it. How much water accumulates inside the plastic cover? We have a drain hooked up that goes out the bottom of the bus. Does the drain catch all of the water typically? Thanks for any and all input!

the carrier units should have their own drain pan associated with the evaporater (unlike the trans/AIR units that use the plastic cover as the pan).. there are a lot of things you can do but one thing for sure dont try and use House A/C registers which redirect the air as vents.. the air opening in and out needs to be large similar to the factory system.. whatever you build make sure its removable if you need to replace a motor or relay or fix a leak etc. there is moisture mainly after the system is shut off and water evaporates.. if you want wood you could make a cover and then spray the inside with a coating, you wont typically have water running or dripping just moisture in the heat after you shut off the system.. if something malfunctions and the drain clogs or the pan cracks, coil gets dirty then you'll have drips..

You could make a wood cover and coat it in epoxy resin
