here's a picture of the cheap Chinese diesel heater i plan to install soon. in addition to a wonderful tiny wood stove in the living room and an electric space heater in the bedroom...
it's nice to have options.

We're planning one of those diesel air heaters (possibly two depending on how large our understorage becomes), a wood stove, and for back up both a 110 space heater and a Mr Buddy propane heater (with a propane port in the living area.
For the bedroom we plan to use a 110 VAC electric mattress pad on our Queen bed and let the temp drop significantly in the "house" once the wood stove stops producing. We have a King in the house and it uses so little power that it's the most efficient way to stay warm once under the covers....well that's mentionable anyway.
In the morning, we'll have the Diesel heater(s) fire up on a timer before we get out of bed to take the chill off until the wood stove brings us back up to comfy.
Out idea is to maximize off grid capability by minimizing fuel and water consumption. (we also are planning a water reclamation system for shower and laundry water to be reused for shower and laundry).
