Foam Failure

I spent $1600 hiring a contractor to spray Polyfoam in my 07 Thomas Safetyliner. That was in September. Fast forward to December and I have found that the foam has shrunk, deformed and retracted from the "hat channel" or ribs rendering the product useless as a vapor barrier.

I have not heard back from the contractor yet, but IF he agrees to "un-fu*k" his work and re-spray it wont be until at least late Spring or possibly summer.

Since I need a thermal break between the ribs and the ceiling paneling anyhow, I am considering employing a product like Reflectix except not air bubbles but foam sandwiched between a vinyl on one side and foil on the other. I would tape it to the ribs and seal all seams and edges with metal tape. I realize this would only marginally increase the R value but hopefully made a good vapor barrier.

I value your thoughts and comments.

Chris

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles That sucks big-time.

Personally, I'd be as concerned with water coming the other direction... finding it's way through some compromise in the outer shell and getting sandwhiched between the compromised foam and the interior steel. If it's pulled away from the hat channels, what's to say it hasn't pulled away from the walls, at least in spots?

Reflectix is useless in a vehicle, same with all non-insulating mylar + bubbles rap sheeting.

As a vapour barrier sure, but no more than cheap plastic drop cloth.

Foam board with DIY spray kits used for gap fill behind it?
