Hybrid insulation

I'm sure someone has already posted this question, but after two days of reading threads I can't find an answer to my question so I'm starting a new thread. Please direct me to the correct thread if it already exists.

I am almost ready to insulate my tin can. I want to spray foam the whole thing but I'm on a budget. Would it be rediculous to think I can reinvent the process?

All interior sheet metal has been stripped except the chair rail and all original insulation has been removed. (Only two golf ball size rust spots to fix... thank goodness!) I am thinking about using spray adhesive to stick 2" Prodex (close cell rigid foam with foil backing on both sides,) to the sheet metal. I would leave a 2" gap from all the frame ribs and then go back and fill the gaps with spray foam. Essentially I'm trying to cut my spray foam cost by 2/3.

What am I missing? Am I wasting my time? Please feel free to pick apart my plan. Looking forward to all criticism, even if it's not "constructive criticism."
