inside heat from radiator

Thanks to all for the continued help. There was an air conditioning/heating unit mounted in the rear roof which was all rusted and subsequently removed. There were four black hoses running to it. Two of them were conduits for the radiator fluid (assume for the heat). I dont need air conditioning, but I would like to have some heat in the back. I was thinking about hooking up a small car radiator to the two tubes and mounting the radiator near the roof to generate heat when the valves on the engine are open sending the fluid through the radiator.

1. Anyone have a better idea?
2. Any idea of what radiator would work - do I just go to the auto parts store and see what they have?

It would probably work, but a bit inefficient, putting a heater up high isn't really a good idea since heat rises. A better plan would be to find a rear bus heater. It already has the right size hose connections and one or two fans. You don't say where you are. I've got a couple I'll give away, since I'm not going to use them. Probably local pickup only, shipping would be a bit expensive. I'm in northeastern Indiana.

Not sure where my post when on this so I will give a shortened version.

I have been thinking about this myself. I wont be in my bus very often when its cold but I may here and there.

If you keep the radiator thoughts you need to find a way to regulate the heat output like the temp adjust you have in a car. In your current setup it will be either on or off. If you just use a radiator you will need to have some way to push or pull air through it. Its a good way to heat while driving but I think idling to warm the water is very inefficent.

Since I am planning on a LP to run my generator (yes I hate ethanol in gas) I will probably pipe in a few outlets in the bus to run some type of stove. So some food for thought.

I agree the mounting of the heater up high would not be a good idea due to heat rising..... unless you move it with a fan or some sort.

Heck, there are enough people here who take heaters out of their buses, just get one of those. Put it on the floor. I would also put a bleed valve on it to get rid of air. That can be a bugger at times.

My furnace is on the floor, as well as the wood stove, etc. However that is really not necessary to have stove mounted on the floor, or a water circulated heat coil like the bus rear heaters. Many garages have heaters mounted up high near the ceiling, and my wild guess is that if a heater or heat duct can be near the top of the room and heat it, one in a bus would work the same way with a fan.
Both my ac units are near the roof, one being in it, and that cools the bus, so i dont think placement is the issue.. i think btu's is.
i also have a couple of rear heaters that i took out.

My point exactly, those heaters usually have big noisy fans, and if you climb a ladder to the ceiling it's HOT up there and at best it's warm down where you work. I've spent the greater part of my life with cold feet in shops. It was also cold laying on a creeper. Didn't get them warm until I bought a building that had the shop on the second floor with a heated lower floor. I hate cold feet, that's why my bus is going to have in floor hot water radiant heat.

Since cold air falls that is the best placement for a cold air source.
