Sounds like both of you know my dad; rabbit, raccoon, squirrel, oppossum, turtle, robins. I don't think I ever brought him an armadillo. About the weirdest I've had is the squirrel (too gamey), rattle snake, and alligator. Oh the escargot and limburger since some people think that's weird. ;) I've had some of the birds too. Duck, goose, and pheasant. Guess I'm tooo city, they were all too gamey as well.

If either of you are interested, there's a small butcher shop near Andrew's A.F. base in DC that has muskrat, beaver (a favorite mby the ladies I'm told), and some other weird stuff. I have a buddy that lives down that way. One of these days I did to check the place out again and actually buy something this time. Went in a talked to the guy a few years ago.

Gamey isn't a bad thing. You're tasting the wild grasses, berries and roots the animals eat. A beef raised on bentgrass has a distinct flavor too, but that's not called gamey.

That said, I haven't actually been very adventurous in rodent consumption. I have pet deer that lazily wander through my yard looking for handouts. There's a six point buck that comes here because I fed him when he was a fawn.

I'm not much of a hunter these days, and if I had to live on fish I'd surely be a lot thinner. Most of the time, if I'm not working on the bus, I'll be out picking herbs. I'm talking about real herbs. The other herb is ready late in the summer.

I was referring to Green Energy Options in Keene NH where I bought a woodstove for my retirement home. A 40' bus would take up their whole parking lot!

Yeah, I'd be interested in that. I could get there fairly easily.

I could send you a beaver. This is the beaver state after all. Or were you drooling over the muskrat?

Hey, beaver state and proud of it. We like beaver. What makes it worse, the old timers say beaver tail is delicious.

They probably could have chosen a more cuddly state animal but this is what we got.
