max temp for fiberglass insulation

Anyone know the max safe temp for normal pink fiberglass insulation, I want to use in a space where temps will not exceed 230 degrees. I assume unfaced would be the correct choice of say R13.

Fiberglass is OK up to 1000 F, so you should be OK. Polystyrene (aka XPS) is only good to 165 F.

I'd like to know more about exactly what you plan to do with the fiberglass. Thanks, Jack

I have an RV style furnace under my couch with silver ducting it gets pretty warm under there, I want to cover the ducting with a batt to lessen the chance of the limit switch being thrown by drawing in too hot of an air.

Also standing on my step well I can see the outdoors though the shut off valve access vent door thing for the front heater the batt will come in contact with engine coolent heat 210 degrees tops

A guy I used to know was rehabbing a house, and everything he pulled out went in a fire. it was going well (ignoring the whole toxic fumes and pollution angle) until he decided to start throwing old fiberglass insulation in the fire. It was completely unaffected by the heat and flames and he had to let the fire die out so he could pull the insulation back out and bag it up for trash pickup.
