My Dream: Solar only heat pump 2007 C2 5 window
Mitsubishi 26.1-30 seer 9-12k btu heat pump

All. I know this dream has been beat to death; it can’t be done. But can it with new tech, since the question was last asked? Or Maybe this Wicked Weed Double IPA is just too strong!
Basically can 1320w - 1980w of high efficiency solar (4-6 330 watt panels) on 500-600ah of LiP4 Lithium 90% deep cycle house batteries and a 4000w(12000w peak for 20s) AIMS 110/230 inverter work to power the above Mitsubishi mini split heat pump a few iPads, a laptop and a small fridge???
Dreaming of a simple, quiet, low maintenance solution to heat and air while parked and used in conjuction with dash air while driving my 2007 C2 5 window, that will have 2.5 inches of sprayed close cell and heavily treated windows (magnet insulation blankets / passive shading). This bus is white and the solar panels will be covering almost the whole ceiling with an air gap to act as passive shade.
I don’t want a generator (other than a small emergency Honda 2000w), shore power or propane.

Someone linked me to broccoli bus. That dude is Batman. Anyone else done that shorty sized? I’m going this route, but lot to learn. I need to source the right car battery bank I believe, due to the nasty price of LFP

Frigomar's variable speed brushless inverter tech is apparently amazing, their 16000btu unit uses under 1400W. Maybe $4K installed?
Power that off 2000W solar directly, otherwise use the Honda.
Do not bother trying to power for long off batteries.
Each 100AH only buys you an hour or two of time shifting, and you won't get it all back to Full running aircon at the same time.
LFP is the way to go but yes pricwy.

Frigomar looks awesome. Can’t afford that much on any one component or this whole build suffers. Need to find tiny home gear, marine stuff is outrageous. I am looking to get thru a weekend of 90 degree weather without starting anything. That would be a simple goal. Not having a generator, propane, Black tank, etc of all these competing fuel sources saves me time and complexity. That’s worth something. Just not new LFP or anything that says marine or Webasto

As a hobbyist science project out in the S&B shed fine, fire extinguishers at the ready.
In an EV remember all the integrated ECU / BMS, temp management systems surrounding those cells. Good luck reverse engineering and replicating all that functionality.
Not safe enough for a House bank in a mobile context.
LFP is the only non-lead chemistry good for that, for mere mortals anyway.

Should mention I design utility scale tracking solar solutions; I don’t have that part of the knowledge but I have a super genius right down the hall. There are several things about the Nissan Leaf Battery Pack design that I believe make this very very safe when done right. I can’t afford 1000AH LFP, period. Plan B is spooling up. I could use your help sir; at least watch me jack it all up and share a beer!

IMO there are very few engineers with the required skillset and experience.
Genius is less relevant.
But if you have access to that level of talent, go for it.
Just do not encourage mere mortals to experiment like that without proper caveats wrt safety, especially thermal runaway in a small living space.
A tinkerer burnt his boat down to the waterline that way, fortunately his family wasn't along that trip.
Don't bother trying to insure against stuff like that, the ABYC has yet to publish safety standards for non-lead House banks, and they are not considering any chemistry but LFP.

I do commercial HVAC for a living and at least 20 plus now.
Bring what YALL have up in the mountains down to the beach area and we can call Mitsubishi engineers directly.
They can and will give us full start up draw,run draw and probably know more about the attempt your attempting to do than us.
For my build?
I have found the pioneer brand of equipment to be cheaper and have installed quite a few that have had less control board issues than the many Mitsubishi/lg brand.
Call a sales engineer for exactly what your looking at and when he ask for power requirements. Tell him your plan.

Hey I agree; I don’t care about brand. I’m just going to try to find the highest efficiency things I can get before crossing the line to financial stupidity. But yes my total budget is $50k. Life dream; I’ve saved my pennies. I will honestly check into Pioneer and I hope I come away convinced; I need a heat pump with some form of aux heat as well ideally. Mits hits all those with 26 seer

are you going to accomplish that with one leaf battery pack ?
I used a full pack in my EV Solectria conversion and it seems to be pretty nice.
For our build I will try to use half a pack and rewire for 24 volt.
just curious if you are going to stay with 12 volt or different.
