Rear air in 2003 micro bird

2003 micro bird (4 window) on Chevy express 3500 chassis. It appears that the dash air and rear air are tied together. If I have the system evacuated and remove the rear unit the dash air will not work, correct. If so, is a front condenser the only new part I'll need? Is the compressor the original Chevy compressor that came with the cutaway chassis? Can I use the same accumulator/dryer? Any wiring mods required? Thanks for any help.
