Removing AC compressor safely without special equipment

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me if there's a safe way to remove this thing? Does the refrigerant (R-134a) just shoot out when you loosen/remove the hoses from the tank? I don't have any specialty tools.

This is the compressor:

That is the condensing unit, compressor is on the engine, if there is still refrigerant in the system, it will blow out if you loosen fittings, if you are going to remove the AC system, you need to have the refrigerant recovered

Ah yes, condenser. My apologies.

Thanks for the input. I will try calling some auto mechanics this morn.
