Removing rear ac unit
Hey All,
Next week I plan on removing my rear AC unit from my bus in order to install a mini split system. That includes the condenser, hoses and compressor as well. In Dallas area if anyone is needing parts. I haven't decided if I will keep the compressor as a spare yet though.

It pains me to see folks taking road a/c out of their buses when I am looking at $2k-$3k to add it to mine.
Consider how you will be using it and how heat tolerant you are. I-40 through Northern Arizona in August is Hell without good road a/c.

Well, I have a front and rear unit in only a 14' space. It pains me to think I won't have AC when my bus is parked with the engine off so it's adios muchacho to the rear unit...

All you people down south really need that beefy road going AC....I took mine out since both compressors were shot and it isn't super necessary in Wisconsin where it rarely gets above 80 degrees especially in the areas I travel/camp in.

by taking that out you very well may also break the dashboard air conditoner as well, esp if you take out the underneath condensor.. those systems are most often tied together.. if you want the dashboard air conditioner to work you will likely need to take the T fittings out of the lines and add a new condensor to the front, unless you leave the underneath condensor and re-fit the lines you take out of that rear unit..

What do you want for the equipment that you are removing? I have a 1954 ford/wayne and would like to install a rear air unit like you are removing....? I am in Topeka Kansas, but I have a close friend in the Dallas area that I can send. My engine is a cummins so, none of the engine brackets will work for me. But I am very much interested in what you are removing. I am interested in the compressor but completely understand wanting to keep a back up. I assume you have a side skirt mount condensor system. for the rear unit and a condensor up front for the dash?

AC info
The 2 AC systems I have are completely independent of one another. There is no common connection at all. As for price, I am not asking for anything. Even the compressor has it's own belt and brackets are mounted on top of the engine. I could use some of the space the condenser takes up as well.

Cadillackid. There is no dash AC in My bus. They are both the same type of roof unit. As a matter of fact, the pic I posted was of the front unit.

I just saw that you pulled this system..
Do you know what kind of refrigerant this was intended to use? The skirt mount condensor, would you please tell me length and width? would you please take a close up of any numbers or tags that are on the compressor? You said earlier that you were going to keep the compressor.... I think, since I have a cummins I will not be able to use any of the brackets you have for the compresor. and yes I am very much interested.....
thank you

Size and specs
William,
The condenser is 39 by 23 by 16 deep.
The freon is 134a
You can have the compressor if you want as well. As for the bracket, it was bolted on top of another compressor bracket, not the engine. And it has a built in tension pulley.

im looking for a "2nd" compressor bracket / idler for a T-444E... I have a single compressor and bracket on now.. did it use a bolt-on second pulley at the engine?
I want to add a dashboard air conditioner.. I dont need the compressor just the bracketry pieces to add a second one.

Ac bracket
It bolted directly on top of the lower compressor. The bracket has a tension arm as well.

yes yes yes, pretty please. I telephoned and left you a message, I will try again later. I would like the compressor too, but, If cadillac can use the compressor, with those compressor brackets, keep that stuff for him.
I would like to use any hoses, wires, controls that came off that you are going to discard. that is provided it is still available.
thank you
william
