Tapping into diesel tank

Been researching all about those little diesel heaters as an alternate source of heat for our short skoolie, Fezzik.

I love the idea, but am not too keen on those little tanks, don't know where to put it. May end up doing that route, if my idea doesn't pan out. So my idea....

Tapping into the diesel tank. I have seen a few vids of folks doing it and heard of others doing it. NOT tapping the line, but putting a new pickup tube into top of tank.

So, took off the tank access panel under my subfloor today and here's what I found.

Could the top one be an EXTRA pickup tube? Am I that lucky?

I think you're going to have spin it out and take a look. Worst case scenario is you have a threaded port that you can use to add a pick-up tube, with possibly an adapter or two .

Buy a pickup on Amazon.
Remove the fuel pump and gauge sender assy.
Drill the tank, removing all metal particles as you drill and with a spoon under the hole as you break through to catch particles.
Install the pickup ensuring that the bottom of the tube is far enough off the bottom that you can't exhaust your fuel while using the heater.
You may need an aux pump or even small aux tank as the pupms in the heaters aren't intended to pull a long distance.

There are detailed instructions in other threads. Ross did a YouTube as well.
