If the product ends, at the very least he's willing to put in some more development times for bug fixes before it ends.
Doesn't look like he is abandoning the platform. He has already rewritten the whole application for V10.0. I bet he was using Xamarin
which was an older way for Windows developers to write windows, android, and apple applications. He cant just keep making minor changes to his codebase to release updates and patches and had to rewrite all the code in a modern framework like flutter or .NET Core to keep compiling.
The downside is that early releases may be more buggy as the developer is flushing things out in the new framework. The upside is that things should be faster a bit more optimized as the developer has a chance to clean things up and design them better.
