My vacuum booster is broken, just a small plastic piece and I no longer have breaks!!
Hi friends! I was driving down the road and I noticed that my vacuum pressure went down very low and I pulled over to find the plastic piece that connects to the vacuum booster had broken off. I can't find parts for my bus in any of the main auto parts stores, hell they don't even have my bus in the computer!! (1976 international loadstar 1603, Aka 1976 international schoolmaster)
I'll add pictures, but I did a quick fix to get me somewhere I can park without having the cops called, I guess breaking down in a gas station is illegal now...
Anyways the quick fix was some electrical tape to add pressure and make a bit of a seal but it's definitely not something long term...
Does anyone know where I can get the part? Or have suggestions for a more long term fix? I'm currently in Bend Oregon, I suppose if I need to I could order it online but I'd prefer in person just cuz it's faster. Speaking of Bend does anyone know a good place for tires around here? They are old types and most tire shops don't have them. (8.25 r20)

You covered everything up with tape, can't see nothing!
Is there a plastic insert that is broken or the housing itself?
If it plastic, I have had great success with a product called Pegatanke, 100 times better than JB weld!
You can find it in many parts stores.
Emergency temp fix...until you get the right part!

It's just the plastic insert that is broken, it broke clean in two, one half inside the booster and the other just hanging off. Would you know the name for this part? And where to find it?

Walk into a NAPA with the old part and ask for something that fits...
It is not an uncommon part.
check the DORMAN website to.
It's nothing special!
Not sure if yours is a check valve fitting but here is an example...dorman Part #
80189, SKU #426092, $8 bucks at Autozone.
NAPA - Part #: UP 89000
Line: NAPA Brake Parts
Price
$14.99

I'm following along.
Not much help, but I'll take a guess.
It looks like it may install similar to a pcv valve (or an old school glass bong bowl).
After fishing out the old grommet, install the new (large grommet into the hole. Then insert the plastic part. The second.gromet appears to fit over the remaining medium nipple.
Lubricant (suggestions?) will likely help it all go together.

I have had good luck with WD-40, silicone spray, and silicone dielectric grease to help rubber parts into tight holes. If all else fails, K-Y Jelly makes anything fit the hole.
Not sure I have ever seen one of those fittings with 2 nipples for hoses. The ones I have seen had the hose to the intake manifold or base of the carburetor on the 90 degree leg.
Keep us in the loop.

brake booster check valve.. pop outthe old grommet, insert the new one into the booster itself.. then a little vasoline on the valve, pop it in.. put a NEW host on from the booster to the vacuum port.. (uness you are stuck on the road then use a clamp).. those hoses get brittle and like to crack..

Hello all! A quick update, the problem was super easy to fix, I just pulled out the broken pieces and the new one slipped right in no problem, it seems a little looser then the original so I wrapped some plumbing tape to keep it tight. I haven't really had any problems since!
