if its reading from the intake manifold then it should zero out the instant the engine is turned off...


the GMC i worked on with vacuum measured its vacuum from the brake booster reservoire. and like mentioned theres a check valve in it so if you ran with your foot to tthe floor you wouldnt lose brake boost.. (running gas busses floored is a pretty common occurance getting up to speed)...

1970-72 Olds 442 with W-30 performance package and standard transmission were only available with manual, not power, disc brakes. The engine didn't make enough vacuum because of the camshaft. The automatic had a different cam.
On my 55 and 56 Fords with performance camshafts about the only time the vacuum wipers worked was decelerating. Basically when you wanted the wipers to work you let off the gas.
