1999 Gillig low floor city transit

Hello all just a quick intro. We just got at auction a 1999 low floor city bus. Seems in good condition. We live in Sothern Utah and will be slowly converting. I have a lot to learn about the electrical and controls for the bus but extremely excited for the journey. If anyone has some input or lessons learned please share.

Congrats, looks like a nice platform. Do you have a layout in mind?
Have fun with wiring. That can get complicated.
What is the box on the front bumper?

Good luck,
Johan

Good for you! We're not far from you, in Northern AZ, and we have 3 Gilligs...two Phantoms and one classic school bus. Let us know if you're in the area!

What engine does yours have - the Detroit Series 50? Do you have electric or air start? We love our Gilligs and are really impressed with the build quality.

We look forward to seeing your build plan and the progress!

The box on the front is a fold down bike rack. And the wiring has already begun to be challenging. Lol

We’re in Saint George. Not sure what engine we have. haven’t really dug in to it yet I know it’s a Cummins 24 valve paired with an Alison transmission electric start.

We drove it 250 mile from salt lake area. Ran great the fuel warning light doesn’t work (bulb good) we ran out of fuel on the way to the gas Station after we got home.

We have the seats removed and we’re working on the floor removal. Not sure where we head after that. We shall see if you have any learned lesson and want to share I would appreciate any feedback.
