2003 GMC midsize conv 25ft.

Been wanting/researching skoolies for a while now and Found the GMC and am thinking of buying it this week. Everything works, it's in great shape and I felt comfortable driving it. I know very little about diesels though. In reality I know very little about buses, but gotta start somewhere. In Michigan they want $96 a month to insure it. Is that a lot ? What kind of MPG should I expect ? It has a CAT 7.2 engine.I am hoping to make it a utility type bus... Kinda a camper on wheels, but still be able to move around 12 people at a time. When I retire in about 3 years, I then hope to go to a complete conversion.
