2021: A Bus Odyssey / Hello from Las Vegas!

Hello Skoolie crew!
My wife and I are "long time listeners, first time callers" and have been dreaming of skoolie life for over 10 years. We're finally able to embark on this dream and are grateful to have this community as a resource.

We're looking at busses, 35 passenger or less (7 or 8 windows MAX) and ready to purchase!

We'll post some pictures when we find our ride!

Cheers to all of the information you have provided, we are honored to be here!

Hi and welcome! Even though they don't have anything in the size you're looking for, you ought to go visit Las Vegas Bus Sales and look at what they've got up close and personal. I'm not suggesting you buy one...their mid-sized buses are bigger than you want. But they have both standard and high-roof buses, so you can get a feel for the headroom and take measurements. Then you have something as a reference when you find something smaller and they send you interior dimensions. Does that make sense?

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a bus from them...and another new forum member just did. But their stock is all larger buses.

Talk to Jon and tell him the FBOMB guy sent you. He's no pressure and will happily show you around.

Hi and welcome aboard. Having a skoolie is just like the Hotel California. Never be afraid to go to a sales yard and look. You really need to. And don't forget they look a lot bigger before you outfit them. And never feel like you are going cause them to feel rejected because there is a saying at the school bus sales yards and car stealerships too “there is an ass for every seat”. So keep looking and keep asking.

Huge thanks for all of the replies! We will definitely check out the LV Bus Sales - you're right it will be great to get a feel for the interiors even if we don't drive off the lot.

We'll keep you posted with any updates on the hunt! We are definitely on board to wait it out a little longer for the right bus than get too excited and walk away with someone's problem child.

We see a TON of options on Midwest Transit - I'm from Iowa and owe my folks a visit so we're weighing that as an option as well.
My only fear would be more rust on an ol' Midwest bus than something from the desert.
