Try for some better details in a more readable format, take your time. Where are you and bus located? There is help available here but it helps to have info to work with.

I'm not sure the Crowns used the 12/24V series/parallel switching arrangements for very long in all the years they put Cummins 220's in the Crowns. Early ones I think for sure but later it was all 12v only with 2 parallel wired 12v 8D batteries, too much trouble with 12/24V switching just to start the engine. They simply installed a 12v starter. Something you should look into doing as well. Change it out to a 12v starter and starter solenoid and end your issues. Shouldn't be too hard to find the parts, except that some parts for the 220's (743 block) are definitely getting HARD to find. Starters maybe not so much.

You should know that when starting from underneath without turning on the key/ignition circuits, the alternator will not charge the battery. Replace the ignition key/switch with a new one and you'll be all set. This is all very common and understood by most Crown owners, or at least should be.

All the electrical and charging systems are pretty straightforward and easily understood by most any heavy equipment electrical shop. On that 1969 vintage Crown you should have all the switches, headlights, clearance, interiors, heaters, fans, etc. on the left of the driver underneath the drivers window in a nice recessed switch panel cut into and mounted in the flat side panel.

In case you haven't figured it out yet all the circuit breakers (no fuses), there's only one 100A fuse underneath on the right side just inside the engine compartment door up high by the floor, alarm buzzers and a few other heavy duty relays and other assorted components and wiring harnesses are located behind this side panel where the switches are mounted (in). The usual drill is to remove the drivers seat and unscrew and remove the entire side panel under the window. This is the central wiring distribution location and most all wires end up here eventually.

Sounds like a decent find and look forward to you updating your profile info and putting up some pics of the Crown.

69 crown coach ,battery starting circuit/diagram

Gussboy ,69 crown yes the charge circ was low output saw ,switch on remote panel left side front eng. was able to start old timer cam over found
fuel relay cut out switch ,starts right up ,after fuel /coolant flush
ran fine .aired up very nicely ,will look for ign circ charge switch.
I understand heavy truck equip elec circ ,single wire alternator
must energize field ,internal regulator, for correct charge voltage 12.75/14.vget
will be moving this bus very soon too new home ,will finally get proper
attention ,like rear pinon seal ,jobs people dont like to do. get put on the
back burner.
And yes one of the first things I am going to improve is key switch.
push butt, start on dash, in future I would like to make brakes dual system
bigger tanks for safety. I am thrilled with bus ,drove it a little to turn
around in parking for better work space, all function as expected &better
turns tighter than My expectations, I am class 1 driver 25 year
exterior is stock and that is how it will stay.
