Smile About to take the plunge: '95 GMC Vandura 3500 Short Bus

Just checked 'er out again today. The current owner is asking $3,000 and I'm going to pay the full amount because I feel it is completely worth it.

1995 GMC Vandura 3500 Short Bus
90k miles
6.5L V8 'Detroit Diesel'
Excellent interior condition, barely any rust on the underside, painted entirely black so rust is (currently) a non-issue
Runs and drives like a dream

Plans aren't fully fleshed out yet as I was wary about getting too carried away before making a final decision on the bus, to be honest I would have preferred a higher profile (extended top) van of some sort, but this is simply too good of a deal for me to pass up. Also it might be worth mentioning I live up in the lower peninsula of northern Michigan so my options are limited - this is the best I can find.

That said I figure we'll need to work on some program to get a floor plan first and foremost. From there I'm foggy on the exact order of which to do things. I'm more than aware of the plethora of resources on this exact topic, but I'm always open to condensed versions for this type of project - something I've never quite done myself.

A bed, small sitting area, and kitchen are the primary concerns. A portable shower and toilet would be the next considerations but lower priorities. Also considering a more 'open' feel for hot Summer days, so I'm considering a larger window to at least one side, but that will take more consideration once I've got my feet wet with the floor plan and other designs.

It's good to be here!

Small world! 15"? That sounds like a lot, but I'm sure you've got a good reason.

I recently purchased a 2001 Chevy Midbus with the same engine! I'm interested in seeing a roof raise on a short bus, I was thinking about doing one.
