Bitten by the Bug!
I'm fairly new to the Skoolie idea. I haven't really ever been around any of these to see how cool they can be. Circumstances have smiled down on me and I have ended up with a sweet bus with very little $$ invested to begin my journey with.
I have a 1999 Blue Bird All American (I think) A3RE activity bus with the 8.3 Cummins and the MD 3060 Allison. There's about 250K miles on it. All the seats are already gone and half of the flooring has been removed, as well as all the wall and ceiling material. It'll easily cruise along at 70-75 mph with the cruise control. I got it weighed today. 7100 front axle, 13360 rear, for a total of 20460. With the GVWR of 36200, that gives me a bit over 15000 for building and payload.
My intention is to build a travel bus, spending most of it's time on the road or hooked up to shore power. I'm not really looking for an off grid bus and I'm not planning on solar at the moment. Retirement catches me in 19 months, so I'm planning on having the build done by then so I can enjoy my time to the fullest.
