Our family is starting the adventure of converting our bus, Charliebob, into our home. Charlie is a good friend of ours, and provided our initial kick in the right direction, and BOB is the Bug Out Bus.
Charliebob is a 1990 Thomas Safetyliner ER from Illinois, with an 8.3 Cummins, and a small Allison transmission. Trying to find information about the bus is difficult, but a mechanic friend mentioned the specific engine. Mechanically the bus is pretty good, except I blew the head gasket as we started the trip home. It helps to do your pre-trip inspection before your trip... Anyway, filled up with coolant and all fluids topped, made the trip home with no other issues. So far the seats are out, the floor is gone, and the rust is being attacked.
