Dazed and confused

Retired army vet trying to do the skoolie thang but all she does is crank, havent found a flow chart yet or any fuse layout but havent found any bad fuses or wires, started fine no problems and then one day just crankes with 0.0 on the dash with engine protection stareing me in the face. Old school diesels are what im used to this electronic **** is a nightmare but that 4.3 mercedes gets damn good mileage. Would prefer a standard tranny or the 6sp allison but beggers cant be choosers. Shes an 02 so shes old enough to drink. So maybe a center section and stage or 3 in the future when the wireing and computers play nice. Lmao

If she cranks (without really scary noises coming from the engine) but doesn't start it's only a few possible things.

1) The computer is inhibiting start due to:
A) Computer issue
B) Low battery voltage
C) Safety interlock (door, Emerg exit, hatch, engine bay)

2) Fuel delivery - If the engine is getting fuel you should see white smoke and smell diesel at the exhaust. If it's not getting fuel it could be:
A) Out of diesel
B) Computer issue
C) Clogged filter
D) Fuel pump
E) Fuel injector

In my experience (and search the threads here) the three most common causes of "turns over but won't start" are:
A) Low batteries
1) 12V on a 12V battery is 1/2 discharged
2) Hatch not sending proper signal because its open or wire cut
3) Cutting wires out of the harness
Many diesel engine computers wont allow start unless the battery is above a certain voltage during cranking. No idea why that is since the alternator will provide power. On my rig I believe it's 10.5 volt under the load of starting. Go below that and the computer inhibits fuel

With these electronic motors figuring out how to access your codes is what you need to figure out first or your wasting time . They will tell you what is wrong you just have to learn their language. I have learned to avoid these motors as I spent the last 15 years over the road and delt with their eccentricities to the point of despair as I sit on a hot day waiting for a wrecker. The one important lesson I learned is you can not trust electricity

any chance you may have blown a fuse in the process of cutting, then reattaching safety/sensor wires?

Sorry, most of this stuff is way above my pay grade. I threw the fuse idea out there because sometimes, we overlook the simple things.
