First Bus! Hello from Denton, TX (Shorty Cummins)

Hello all! I have been toying with the idea of getting a school bus since I was 16 and could drive. Always been a old soul in a young body. Enough about that....

I just pulled the trigger on this beautiful 2002 Freightliner Thomas 8 window with rear lift. 5.9L Cummins with 116,XXX miles & Air brakes! I think this is exactly what I want, I could have got the same with CAT 3126(I think) for cheaper but I am a sucker for a Cummins after growing up with a 1998 Dodge 2500.

I'm pretty good with my hands and wood Can weld basically but not trying to do anything extreme just make a tiny home to travel in with my dogs.

Enough Talk Here She IS, He had an identical one you'll see next to it, but it had more miles and AC didnt work hence the white X on the bumper.

Anyway HI! Let me know what you think good first one to get my toes wet?

Nice looking bus welcome to the skoolie world! That's about the same age I started looking at bus's, good call on cummins 5.9 over the CAT!

Whats your plans for the bus? Full out "Tiny House" or just a weekend camper?

Time to get those seats and wheel chair lift out!

I'm 28 now, just went through a divorce. I love the outdoors always, love mountain biking, snow boarding, and have 2 lab mixes.

So the plan is to clear everything out and make it a weekend "livable RV" for now and convert to full tiny house within a year or 2 then quit job and travel full time for about a year.

I'll be making a build thread so I can get a lot of feedback and help. I'm picking it up tomorrow at noon and probably going to film it and post a video after.

Welcome Mr Burrito

That's a pretty ideal size bus IMO. Big enough for a small garage in the back? A lot of us like a dual sport bike in the back via the lift.

Yes! Drives like a dream better turning than in thought and I love the air seat.

Time to take out some seats and a lift too. Then on to paint.

That's a nice bus Mr Burrito. Excellent choice. Not to big and not to small.
