Greetings!!!

Looking forward to participating in a new faction of classic vehicles. My son and I just got a '62 shorty survivor with the original 6IL drive train. Windows are all busted and the bench seats have been ripped out. Very little rust but will need lots of work inside and out.
No title as the bus was pretty much donated by the people clearing out property they had just sold. My son may have to begin with a "bonded" title.

Wow, pics in a first post, someone figured it out.
Title is not required on something that old.

There are a couple of folks here who are doing an oldie like that. Scary work, expensive, but worth every nickel if you value that authentic approach.

I opted for a plain vanilla shuttle bus with good running gear.

Welcome to the forum!

I have a '55 Nomad I had to bond because it didn't have a clean California title.

They're all scary and expensive. I have a restored '55 Nomad with a 350 and 700R4 tranny, a '56 Chevy HT with a 700R4, another '56 Chevy HT with a 327ci, a '49 Olds 98 with LS and 4L60e, and a '62 Corvette with 327 ci and 340hp. The bus will be my son's resto. his first.
Bob
These are some of my resto's. Now if we can get the bus to look as nice.

56 Nomad among many in my pile. You are going to make it a motorhome right?
I think it best to redo an old motorhome instead, like my 74 dodge motorhome with a 5.9 magnum swap. The vintage trailers are a thing now too, and what is really king is the vintage step vans, they have gone up like 10x now.

From your car restoration photos, I doubt you will have any issues bringing that bus back to life. It's only money I say. You cant take it with you and in our case, no kids and dual incomes gives us many freedoms! I restored a 1970 Triumph TR6 with some improvements! Eventually sold it to pay for some room additions and an 1100 square foot garage. Enjoy life and I look forward to seeing that bus come alive!

For sure.....love that 'vette. The '58 has always been my dream car.

Are y'all restoring it to a bus, or camper, or ? Looking forward to following your progress.

My 'Vette is a '62. Last of the C1's, and first of the 327's. The '58 is the first of the quad headlights.
I don't know if my son has really decided what he will do with it. I want to help him with the functionality of it. I'll let him work on the cosmetics. He is a Niner fan and his buddies are trying to get him to convert it into a van they can use to travel to other stadiums.
It probably would be more practical if he bought a modern van, but it wouldn't make the impression this bus would make painted scarlet and gold. I can see the scarlet body with gold side trim...I don't know about the wheels, but it's his bus. He nay have other ideas.

This will be my son's project, I only want to support him with a little of my experience. The Nomad and the '49 Olds 98 were real basket cases. Each took about two or three years to restore concurrently. He knows it can be done. He just turned 58 and he has some crazy money he can put into it.
Here's my basket cases. Pictured also is my '68 Toyota FJ40 I may restomod.

Yep.......I just meant I prefer the '58's ass-end and grille. But I wouldn't kick your '62 out of bed for eating crackers.
