Greetings from England

Hi all. Just starting our Skoolie journey with a UK spec, Right Hand Drive 2002 Bluebird AARE with the 5.9 ISBE Cummins unit fitted.

I am UK based, in the North West of England, in a small 'City' called Preston. Famous for a 'brutalist' concrete Bus Station and for it being the administrative centre for the County of Lancashire.

For those that don't know, there have been 59 or so Skoolies, all Bluebirds 'officially' imported into the UK for use by councils between 1992 and 2002. These were all factory RHD and given special dispensation from the DVSA (Our DMV) for use on UK roads.

Mine was one of 20 Gen 4 AARE that were the last imported and one of the last 2 retired from service last month.

Looking forward to all the help and advice on this forum.

Love this bus, but I have to say "School Bus" looks so horribly wrong here, like they got the idea from a matchbox (toy car) of a school bus. It's "SCHOOL BUS"!

All the Bluebirds officially imported to the UK (maybe)

Very cool.
My wife's from Glasgow and said the only time they used buses was when they took field trips and they booked charter buses.
First I've ever heard of a yellow yank tank being put to use over there!

Hardy folk from Glasgow. She probably walked 5 miles each way with no shoes, pausing only for a fight. All the while the Sassenach's were being ferried to and fro by Skoolies ;)

That's an exaggeration, they didn't make kids go to school without their breakfast.
