Greetings from SD,
TL;DR: 1st time bus owner. No clue what I'm doing (yet). Likes to tinker. More knowledge of electronics and technology than car mechanicals. Open to meeting up with others in and around SD/SoCal. Always ready for adventure.
I just wanted to be polite and introduce myself to the board prior to asking what will most likely be a ridiculous amount of questions on my family's journey towards bus life.
If you happen to live in San Diego (or nearby Southern CA), we would love to meet and get to know more skoolie owners in the area and maybe get together for some bus adventures. Also looking for a reilable mechanic in the area.
I've been lurking on this forum for the last 10 months or so, but my wife and I finally found a nice little short bus to call our own so I figured it's time for me to actually connect with this wonderful community.
We just purchased a 2000 Ford E450 shortie with the 7.3L Powerstroke and just over 150,000. It's a great little bus (so far) for our needs.
Personally, I wanted to do all the renovations myself, but the Mrs. wasn't quite as thrilled with that idea, so we compromised and found one that was partially finished, with the seats were ripped out, some flooring added, bench seating/storage, a counter and sink, and basic queen bed. It fits her need to get camping ASAP without doing so much work, and my desire to keep peace in the house, while still being able to do some customization.
Happy wife, happy life...or something like that.
Anyhow, thanks to everyone who's already been posting on this forum and also thanks in advance to everyone for future assistance. I feel like I've learned a lot already but have SO FAR to go.
