Greetings from the PNW!
If any of you have been following the weather, you know everywhere is dealing with something! In my area in Washington state we received 14.75 inches of rain in November alone! ☔
So, a bit about me, my friends call me Batty, I'm 45 male years young, moved to Washington almost two years ago to help my mother in taking care of my father, who has Alzheimer's and Dementia... When I'm not at home I'm working, I'm currently a parts delivery driver for O'Reilly Auto Parts, and yet I have no skills in cars/trucks/buses repair! Or building anything for that matter! (but the employee discount makes me want to learn, or share the discount with others willing to teach!)
I've never married, had kids, but I feel like helping take care of my father, is like having a kid! I come from Scotland and don't have an accent unless you get me drunk, and I don't drink! But I'm pretty much unapologetically me!
I don't currently have a bus, but I do have a 1980 Step Van (think FedEx/UPS delivery van), which a friend helped me convert into my tiny living space! I call her The Wee Flying Turtle or Lil' Beastie... I'm looking to expand my living space...

Welcome,
I'm also coming from an uninformed place, to where things are now, well into my build. It's a journey. I learn new skills and find things out about myself. I'm here in New England where weather is unpredictable in wintertime.

Welcome aboard young man. Around here we are all a little batty. My son was a first call manager for O'reilly auto parts a couple years ago. You have a full plate helping your mom care for your father, been there done that got the tee shirt. I hope we can help share some of our insanity with you.

Think FedEx, not UPS. You will never own a previous UPS truck.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of this van, 'The Wee Flying Turtle or Lil' Beastie'. My dad converted large postal stepvan, in the '70s. Our Family camper, as kids.

and in my head, I hear the song "MAINEack MAINEack... she's out of control.."
yeah, I know, the line doesn't entirely fit, however my father in his youth was a MAINEack... one thing about me? I'm a wee bit random for some...
I'm glad forums are available for educating those of us with uninformed and graduating to uninformed, but what the heck, I'll give her a go!"

why thank you kind soul for your words of encouragement, that I too can be myself around here!
I'm proud to work for O'Reilly, a Scot working for an Irishman, only good can come from it...
I'm wanting the t-shirt, but it scares me of what kind of graphics might be included with it... especially on Da's latest escapade, let's just say he's convinced the loo canna flush sufficiently, so he had to "rescue" the BM to dispose of it in the faux plant in the dining room...

and I'm grateful for that one... otherwise I'd have a wee bit too much fun with the redesign of their logo...
but aye, I'm aware I'll never own a UPS step van, but I came close when a UPS driver took a fancy to my van... I offered to trade him his van empty, for my house fully kitted out... he asked his boss, and they disappointed him, and here I was only joking... but a fresh canvas is always fun when getting to start over...

"Insane Asylum" was my old WiFi network years back, I had a ton of people trying to get in, but would never guess my password in a million years!
the van is nothing special, but Lil' Beastie keeps me warm and dry, aside from a minor leak around one of the windows, I'll be addressing that issue someday... hopefully sooner than later... but your Da sounds about as awesome as they come... My Da's idea of a camping trip were to take a half day at work, to come start a fire, plug Maw, and run his grubby hands through my hair in the morning asking how I slept... "fine until I heard Maw howling about you banging her arse..."
thanks for drudging up that memory pal...
