Hacks On A Bus
So, we bought a bus a bit back. Finally had time to go pick it up...
2001 Thomas 78 Passenger Saf-T-Liner.
~300 mile shake-out ride home was uneventful.
Will post pics and more info soon.

Moving Slowly...
Roof raise is complete, things are weather tight. We've rumbled around town a few times to move the bus and random bits. Currently using our bus as a storage unit... and moving "van" until September.
Will post more/new pics in the next week or so.

Hey StatTarget - being a Marylander myself I was curious as to how difficult it was for you to get your bus registered with VT tags and pick up insurance. I purchased a bus out in Hagerstown a few weeks ago and my current plan is to title the paint the thing (among other odds and ends required for inspection). After paint get it insured, inspected and then tagged in MD.....well more or less. If I can get it tagged and on the road before that I'd be happy to go that route - thanks!

Originally, we carried Progressive commercial School Bus insurance. Currently, we're (newly registered as a VT Motor Home) working on getting our bus added to our normal auto insurance.
As far as registration, this thread ( https://www.skoolie.net/forums/f18/h...ion-15292.html) has all the info you need. It took about 5 weeks to get our plates and stickers...

Progressive is no longer writing policies for converted school buses. Be careful when registering in Vt. as an RV. While it is easy to do, you may have trouble getting insurance before the conversion is completed.

Appreciate the insight o1marc.
Our first goal was to get plates on the bus... while working on the conversion. At his point, we're going to hold off on further work. Going to use the bus (...er Motor Home...) as a moving van later this year. our new home state is more friendly about vehicle registration and titling bits... used to joke about being able to register a cardboard box if the vin looked right from across the street.
That said, the Vermont shuffle was pretty easy. I'll update once we have insurance straight.

Maybe too late now, but I would've heightened that side door a bit. Looks good, though.
