Hello

Greetings..

New to this forum but not to schoolies.

Lurked for many years on youtube and here learning about schoolies.

Still on the fence of what to do as a single dude. Weighing the pros and cons of a bus vs. converting a 4wd sprinter. The latter seems more expensive as a sprinter is in the 10k plus just for a sub 100k chassis shell and the Benz Diesel. And some here state it is 1k to 6k for a decent Bus with the 24v Cummins.

Decisions Decisions.

When I was down in Mexico I met a couple that was touring North America in a converted Sprinter.

I couldn't full time comfortably in that small space but they loved it.

They told me that over 6k miles traveled so far, they had averaged 23 mpg.

I would be very careful being a single dude and getting into the bus game.
Seems they can be chick magnets...who'd a thought?
Other than that, everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Good luck!

just get a lifejacket.... like blackjohn said you'll be drowning in ladies (phase uses another word normally but gotta keep it PC). I have a wife because she knew eventually that I would buy a bus. LOL. actually the wife and kids slow down my work on the bus as I have to wear many hats. sweet kids 7 and 3 try to help but honestly slow me down. Wife wants nothing to do with it until it is road worthy. Actually I was running behind schedule the other day and she could since the frustration and came out to help me mask the windows so I could paint the exterior.

to get back to the topic, are you full timing or just a vacay rig? When I first started thinking on conversions, I toyed with the idea of a big ambulance, but ceiling height and size was just too small for me, my wife, and 2 kids. where do you plan to take it? boondocking? rv sites with hookups? winter (think heating)? I guess all these decisions is what makes the skoolie life fun!!!

I let a girl look inside my first bus.

Seventeen years later, the bus is gone but the girl is still by my side.

Either I am very blessed or she is very blind. Or both.....
