Hello Bonjuor Hola Namaste Shalom!!

We are NEWBIES and couldn't be more exited! Been lurking in the shadows of skoolie.net for a while now. in advance for any time and knowledge given! I have so much to learn about our newly acquired CROWN. I am a General Contractor and fine carpenter. I have little to no knowledge of big rig mechanics let alone all the nuances of a School bus. So my plan so far is to make sure the drivetrain is reliable and geared properly. She has brand new tires and Alcoa Rims. It starts right up and runs STRONG. I drove home from central Calif. to Southern Calif. yesterday. She has the 855 Big Cam and 13 speed eaton fuller. The gear ratio is WAY WAY to low. In 13th gear at 2200 rpm the speed was 53 MPH. Flew up the Grapevine in 13th passing trucks at 53 MPH without flooring it, had plenty more UMPH. I cant wait to get advice on the gearing issue. Maybe Crown Guy! i have been reading his posts and replies and he seems like the "CROWN GUY" allright. Not that there are probably many more crown fans with advice I NEED. Again thanks in advance, and as become more knowledgeable I too shall share my insight.

Welcome! It sounds as though your Crown will no doubt deliver all the grunt needed to deliver many miles of joy. Many on here understand the gearing more thoroughly than I.

Lets see some pictures

As far as the rear you should be able to get new gears, or get just the center section from a junkyard. Is this Crown a mid engine or rear engine?

Mid engine, that at least gives a lot more choices as it is a standard rear. There should be a tag on the rear that gives you identification. From that you should be able to find out what is available for your rear.
