Sorry Mrss Scooter.
If it helps any, that was the hardest I've laughed all day. Shame on you brokedown.
So have you looked at those two big dognose buses you had lined up? That wasn't in the auction that just ended, was it? You should be able to find a pretty good deal on a big dognose. Most people that want a big bus go for the FE or RE.
I'm told dognose buses are easier to work on. Others say RE buses are easier to work on. I know for certain that FE buses are definitely hard to work on the engines. Every choice is a trade off. You can't have everything in one bus. That's why a good number of us have several buses, to have it all.
Are you guys just looking locally?

I'd take a good long look at this ad. I bought my shorty from this district and it was dirt cheap and VERY well maintained. Looks like a NICE bus and no bids yet!

Hello from Wauchula/Lake Alfred
I bought my 1993 Thomas DT360 dognose 10 window bus from the Bartow school board for $3,000 through PublicSurplus. They let me have a look at the buses that would be listed and were honest about engine troubles and body damage in the descriptions on the website. My bus ran great and just had the usual subfloor surface rust from the hose downs. All I did was change the governor on the air compressor, and even that wasn't a necessary fix.
If you get a chance to look, look for surface rust on the exterior (called something like "mild rust" in the description). I was interested in a particular bus, but the entire bus was rusted under the paint and showed up mostly as bubbles in the paint. Maybe just a bad batch of steel. I'm so glad I took the time to look beforehand.
If you can't find a DT466, a DT360 is of the same quality, just a bit smaller.
I personally prefer the dognose style. My father runs them almost exclusively and RE buses can be harder to fix because of special computerized components, since the driver is so far from the engine. For example, there is no traditional throttle cable, and if the computer had problems it has to be fixed by International or whatever other company manufactures it. But, if the bus is in good condition the extra space is totally worth it.

iver got 2 dognose busses and Love the ease of working on them.. the front Bonnet weighs about 100 lbs or so and is EASILY removed with disconnecting 4 springs and 2 cotter pins and 2 men can lift it to the ground... giving you Complete access to everything under the hood...
even without taking it off i can stand between the wheel and the bus frame and reach many things on the engine...

The buses did not work out. I attempted to call and was given the wrong number. So I'm thinking it's best to pass on those unknown buses and focus on a site/auction that gives more information and is more helpful.
Besides I learned a lot from from EastcoastCB today and will be broadening my horizons! Thank you EastcoastCB! We had a wonderful time and hope to do it again sometime.

I'll keep an eye out for a big, conventional bus for you two.
And if any crazy nice deals on any FE's pop up I'll send some links your way.

We got a bus! 04 fe300. Dt466 with a md 3060. The bus was from Palm beach school district. The gentleman in charge was super helpful. Scooter told him we expect to pick up the bus and drive it about an hour past orlando. He said: not a problem, just a jump start and you will be good to go. She turns over with no problem and was driven back to the lot about a month ago and the tires will take you anywhere!
Won the auction at 3,100. Drove down and jumped it off. Then poked home on the interstate at 62mph learning how to drive a bus!

Me too!!! It would neat to see your bus! I'm getting pretty excited about our weekend! Getting ready to upload a pic of the installed sink on a cleaned up butcher block counter. It's all coming together.
