Hello from Florida

Hi everyone from the sunshine state. We've been snailing through the forums gathering your wealth of knowledge before we take the plunge into bus ownership. Thanks for sharing! hopefully one day we will find our 🚌, now that we think we know what we would like!

Both of us work full time in Orlando and rest our heads in Lake County.

Welcome

You've got a lot of company down there in FL.

So tell us what you're looking for in a bus?

Hope I've got this right -

Basics are: dog nose, dt466, mt643 or a md3060, 11-13 windows and of course not showroom expensive. We have two buses we will be checking on this week!

I am just a tad excited!!

Cool. Has anyone talked to you about buying FL buses? Most are pretty beat from what I understand. Not to say you couldn't find a good bus there. The point is you can get a much better bus out west, starting with CO. Especially considering how the exporters in FL are driving up the prices in that area, you can get a much better deal in better condition further away.

Hello Robin & Cabinbus

We have read and seen a "few" Florida beaters. We are trying to look at the bus before we purchase because I (a girl with no diesel engine skills) have noticed a lack of I information on the sale information and a engine in the V-pattern posted as a dt466. So I'm trying to be careful.

Lots of people seem apprehensive about going diesel but honestly I would never advise going gas on a bus that moves. If you aren't a big gas truck mechanic there is no familiarity reason to favor gas. Diesel powers the trucks that just keep going.

FL is a great place to own, build, drive a school bus! I grew up in Lake and Sumter counties. Now in Eustis.
I've owned 3 buses and not one of them was a FL bus. I go as far away as I can. Our buses and schools are all bottom feeders.
And definitely avoid the stealerships hawking buses for ten to twenty grand.
3 grand will get you a nice bus if you don't have to have one TODAY and are willing to travel.

We're having a bus gathering and departure party for Sandi on the last weekend in Sept. You should come!

Where in Eustis do yall live? Crazy- I've met at least a few folks from my area on this site. Made real world friends from a website! Maybe you've seen us and our dog cruising in our 6 window shorty? Or seen me blasting down 19 on my green and purple moped?!
I'm on Center St! You should stop by sometime!

I was wondering how long it was going to take for you two to find each other.

You're in Eustis and named Scooter. CB likes scooters and also lives in Eustis.

It was inevitable.
