Hello from Hampton Roads VA (Cutaway Shorty)

I've got to say, this forum is the best. Quite addictive. I recently purchased a 2001 Chevy cutaway shorty, planning for a westward road trip this fall. Not my first choice for a bus but with space concerns in the driveway and a road trip that won't require full amenities it seemed like a reasonable alternative. Can't wait to get started and hopefully meet a few experts in the hobby!

Thanks! I'm sure a few people saw this bus in philly on eBay. I'm a little leery of the rust but I decided to take the gamble anyway.

Welcome Robbie! Which city are you located in? I'm in VB. How much did you pay for the bus? I'm planning on getting an E450 like this when I get the $$$$. Thanks..

Hey thanks, Chesapeake. It was about 3k. I went out to NC and looked at a craigslist 06' E450 in decent shape before I settled on this one.

Cool. What engine does it have? I've been focused on looking at E450's with the 7.3L engine but haven;t really looked into Chevy and the different engines that use.

AH...... VB........Chesapeake.........Norfolk......... ok not so much Norfolk, 2nd dirtiest town I was ever stationed in. Loved my townhouse on Dam Neck road, hated the flight path of Oceana!

The rust on a shortie shouldn't be too awful, unless it's frame work that it needs. Nice little rig!

Oceana flights are as busy as ever. We call that "The sound of freedom"! If those flights ever stop you know TSHTF!

I'd have to go with Philly as the dirtiest and worst city I was ever stationed in. Went back a few years ago for work and it still sucked. Filthadephia!

Agreed on Philly....... And the flights didn't bother me unless it was a C-17 landing at 2.30 am or an f-14 coming in during the superbowl!

I think it was a 6.0 turbo.

I actually went to Kecoughtan High school for 11th grade, spent many a night at Doumar's Drive-In and cruising Atlantic Ave, then jump onto Pacific to beat traffic and repeat

Learned alot about Hampton/NewPort News and brass knuckles and bats...Ah the early 80's

When I'm there, I LOVE it. I travel so much for work, I average 3 months a year at home. But, no snow, no mosquitoes, and not very many blue hairs from Ohio to clog up the roads, unlike central Florida!!!

Doumars is still here and a good place to eat. Cruising on Atlantic has been illegal for many years now. And traffic just keeps getting worse every year around the whole area.
