Hello From Illinois

Hello everyone,
looking for a bus to convert. There is a local bus company here called Midwest Transit in Kankakee IL. They have several busses I just don't know what to look for. I have been told to stay away from the 6.0 engine but other than that not sure where to begin. Want to move to skoolie from van, cargo trailer conversion. What do you all recommend ?

Hi Welcome,

Try looking https://www.publicsurplus.com/ for school buses It will likely be less expensive. It is an auction site and not a dealer.

The Public Surplus site is indeed a great place to start. I found my Bus there and only paid $1100 for it. I called the School District it came from and just asked to speak to a mechanic. I asked him what buses they were selling had worked good and I got an answer. Some will talk, others won't. Just be creative in your queries. Good luck!

depends on what 6.0 you are referring to.
the chevy 6.0 gas engine is good.
the diesel 6.0 is a money pit.
