Hello from Indiana
Hello! I am here to gather information on a possible future conversion. My wife and I just took a 2 week trip staying in our 10 passenger Ford E350 covering 6300 miles, and while we survived my wife wants some standing room before trying it again.
My thinking currently is a dog nose full height bus in the 24' range, diesel, hydraulic brakes and 22.5 tires. I am early in my research and am open to input. Thanks, and I look forward to spending some time here,
Bill

Hello Bill,
Sounds like an exciting upgrade. I drive a 35' GMC and it has enough space to make me wonder where i put things lol

Hello Bill!
I was curious what part of Indiana you live in. I live in Fishers and I am in the process of purchasing a bus. I am trying to do my due diligence now and hope to have one purchased over the next month or so.
Where are you in your process?

I am just south of you in Beech Grove. Today was our first trip out to actually look at buses. We went to Macallisters Transportation just to get a feel for the space available in different buses. We are looking at short conventional buses under 30 feet total. We will probably be buying within the next month or two.

Awesome. I have been there as well. They don't have a huge supply of the short busses but the two they had there last week seemed decent.
I originally thought about just getting a short bus but have changed gears and now looking at the 40' ones.
Good luck! Stay in touch and let me know when you purchase and I will do the same.
Thanks

I check their inventory periodically. I agree, they're not good on shorties. The bulk of the inventory is conventionals and RE buses.
How much are they willing to haggle? I see prices listed on the PDF they post every month but I get the impression they're fairly flexible.

Kerlins in Silver Lake may have some shorts. I was by there last week and there were a lot of buses in their used lot.

Hello,
I went to my local bus garage for our school district and they had mentioned them as well.
Do you know if they have an online inventory? I am going to google them now and see if I can find anything about them.....I think Silver Lake might be a bit of a trek for me but worth it if they have what I am needing!
Thanks again

I am not sure in terms of how much they are willing but they seem to be priced well all ready and I have heard they will bend over backwards to get you a good deal.
They seem very helpful!

a lot of short busses go fairly reasonable on auctions.. the exporters dont go after the shorties alot.. if you find one without a wheelchair door you can even get a better deal.. while there is some market for shorties, they arent the first choice for full-timers, exporters, or farmers..
Churches and secondary schools are the ones buying them mainly.. and lots of them want the wheelchair lift..
