Hello from New Jersey!

Hello Everyone!

My boyfriend and I have just purchased a partially converted 2000 International 3800 Dt466e, and are so excited to join the skoolie community! Already experiencing several issues with our bus, but the happiness is making the stressors worth it. Tried to drive it home yesterday, but it kept being unable to accelerate after it was stopped. This was happening directly after we had two diesel mechanics look it over, give it an oil change/ oil filter change/ fuel fulter change. Ended up having to drive it back to the shop after being stalled at an intersection in rush hour traffic for about 40 mins Waiting to hear back from them now. As we were leaving the shop we realized there was anti-freeze leaking on the interior of the bus, from by the driver's seat. All we could do was put some towels by the leak and leave our poor bus, as the mechanic's shop was closing. Anyone else experience pitfalls in the beginning? How did you deal with them, both financially and emotionally? Can't wait to read all about everyone's buses and lives and experiences!

Coolant by the pilots seat must be a heater line leak. Never saw anything with radiator hoses in that neighborhood.

Agreed. If it is a rear-engined bus there are often pipe connectors on the left, right behind the driver's seat where the coolant pipes run under the electrical panel.

There may be similar pipes feeding the passenger heaters of a front-engined bus.

I think it is the heater! The guy before me must have taken it out or modified it incorrectly, without properly sealing it. Definitely got some work ahead of me...haha. Thank you for the guidance! Also, she's a front-engine. Will upload pics as soon as possible.

Welcome to the forum! I'm a new poster, long-time lurker. My wife and I just bought a mid-sized bus, a 2004 E350 Corbeil lift bus that we're getting to work gutting and building back up. What part of Jersey are you from? We're in Morris County
