Hello from Raleigh, NC

New bus owner here. I've lurked for a few months and now my wife and I finally bought a bus, so i guess i better contribute. Our bus is a 1997 Thomas with a DT446E engine and an Allison transmission. We have no idea what we're doing but we plan to turn this 30 foot beast into our future home. I look forward to asking lots of dumb questions while we figure this conversion thing out and build a home. What's the worst that could happen, right?

Thanks. As much time as I've spent in the Outer Banks and Crystal Coast I'm never made it to Swansboro.

NO SIR but we are starting to add up but rolesville has a closer chance of meet and greet than i do.
already have two buses at my place and only room for visits to help as needed.
but there are some good state campgrounds around here that have never denied my big bus even primer painted and under construction?
you pay for your site and you get your site. if any one is interested in the cape carteret state campground area i can tell you my favorite site with a skoolie and my favorite site with a skoolie and tents.
its a campground so of course it has full bath facilities but if you want to try your system out they have a full dump station and full electrical and water and most sights.
it was 17$ a night 4 years ago but have read that the state just rebuilt the sceptic so dont know what it cost right now?
i can find out cause i live 10 minutes away.
from that camp spot all the emerald isle /atlantic beach is a 10-30 minute drive depending on what you want.

used to live in APEX and both of my children were born in WAKE MED..
i helped build the 7 5 story buildings EPA lab just outside of durham, a bunch of lab buildings at duke, the 7 story womens and childrens hospital at UNC.
but i only moved there because my girlfriend now wife was working in raleigh as a computer topographer helping map the entire 911 system for the area and making dang good money for the late 90's early 00's

Fuquay Varina lurker

Hi, So glad to see so many skoolies near me.

I am still plotting and planning my way for my next journey. While recovering. This group has helped me understand more than I could have asked at first. Still not sure where God will lead me. But, I think I am on the right path as long as I stay healthy. No surgeries for 2020!! Woo Hoo!

Would love to meet up and learn if you are willing! Maybe even help if I can.

Welcome from Fayetteville NC.
I have the same Thomas and Allison. Its a very good bus...just make sure to change all the oil, fluid and filter plus take a CDL class and get the CDL license...it will help you down the road.
Regards
Skoolie
