Hello from Southern Arizona!

Hey y'all!

New skoolie-er, checking in.

My name is Carolyn, and I'm a writer, whisky enthusiast (note the intentional lack of 'e'), vintage typewriter collector, and wanna-be-avid traveler, building out my first skoolie to visit the nation's best distilleries (and the less-than-best ones too).

Last month I bought a 2001 International Bluebird Handy Bus (aka, a handicap-equipped shorty) with a T444E engine. I had plans to build it out with my partner, but it's turning into a solo build instead. I grew up hanging out and sometimes 'working' in my grandparents' woodshop, so I have some experience with heavy tools. That was 25+ years ago, so what I lack in current experience, I make up with a strong internet connection so I can watch a thousand YouTube videos.

Here's where this intro starts to feel like a dating profile: I would love to connect with other skoolie folks in the Tucson area, especially womxn who've done it themselves. 💪

Let's hang out. I'll bring the whisky.

Cheers!
Carolyn

Welcome to the forum.

Not a big whisky (or whiskey) drinker, but glad you found the group.

Tell us about the plans for the build.

Good for you! Better to start on your own, then be left broke and abandoned halfway through! Get a few basic tools and you can do it.

I bought my bus from Tucson and wish I could've explored more. It'll be a few years before I can make it back it back, but I'll be following your build! Also, addd some pictures!

Welcome. I recently completed my build on a 2010 BB Handy...It was a solo effort over the past 2-1/2 yrs...Will upload pics that I took along the way and happy to answer any q's about the process, equipment I used, etc - though will defer to other experts here on the hardcore bus mechanicals.
