Hello! getting ready to buy a bus, advice appreciated.

Hello, My name is Daniel and i want to convert a school bus, because i am planning to travel from alaska to patagonia *transamerican highway*

I am looking to buy my first school bus and i have found a couple i am really interested in.

I was told by a truck mechanic to avoid anything with a MAXXFORCE engine on it.

I am currently looking at a 1999 International Amtran School Bus with 192,428 miles. In good running condition. DT engine. is currently sellling for
$1,000.00at auction. Could anyone please tell me if that is something good?

I also found a 1983 international with 86k miles for $4900. diesel

And finally a 1993 blue bird, diesel with 146500 for $5000.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you

1st thing I learned is never trust the displayed mileage. Most buses see an average of 10k miles a year, if your mileage is far from that, chances are it's had a speedo failure and was replaced.
The 99 International is an excellant bus, it is CURRENTLY bid at $1000, expect it to go t $4-$5K

The 83 with 86K, that's only 2200 miles a year, I doubt it. The 93 likely should have double what it listed. Where are these buses coming from, hopefully not a rust state. I agree on the advice on the Maxxforce.
I Thank God That He Gifted Me with Common Sense

I'll not help for the rig choice (not here, at least) but we are on our way to Patagonia, too. In Mexico, already. We can keep in touch if you like.
