Hello! Phoenix couple saying hello and looking for spot to build.

Hi everyone! Curious where you guys found the space to build out your buses?

We found our space on Craigslist as an RV/Boat storage. We contacted the owner of the lot and asked about working on site and he was cool with it as long as we weren't spray painting. It wasn't a franchise storage place, it was a guy with 10 acres and he was looking for some extra money to pay his insane Chicago area property taxes by renting out spots to people. It worked for us way better than we could have imagined. Keep your eyes out for RV storage or Boat storage places. You could also look for semi truck parking spots, we almost went with one of those.

I found mine by just driving around looking for lots with a bunch of RVs and campers in them. A lot of these places don't advertise anywhere.

Welcome! Phx area here too. I'd invite you to build here but we've barely got space for one shorty!

Make space in your yard

Ha. Bus space was not too bad. I originally wanted to get a hobby airplane or sailboat but TC said "NO Effin Way", however was down with the skooile idea. A mobile gotham, for more kids & house our old goats in, too.

We first cleared a spot out back where we keep the horses. We had to take down alot of trees to get a bus into the back. Our regular driveway is too winding. So we cleared 12ft wide x 250ft deep, straight through the woods. Chainsaw & shovels only, no machines. Then hand dug 140ft trench that we backfilled with both grey & white pvc pipe, plus five #10Cu/#12gnd, for new power and water lines. Followed up by several F150 trips to the rock yard for limerock, all shovel spread & hand compacted. Parking space achieved. After setting up a secure home for our new addition we found ourselves bus shopping.

We wish we could have done a concrete pad and a roof, though. The work sucks but you'll be satisfied before you're halfway through.

You already did all the hard work. Easy enough to put down concrete on the bed of rock you packed down if finances permit. I too, want to put up a building but the current state of global affairs and materials costs passed on to my clients has begun to show a sign of retreat. Took 2 years but I think people are finally postponing and cancelling their jobs. My building will have to wait or perhaps never be.

--------------

Same here. Not much time to keep up with the fence, bus, livestock & business. We have open & extended permits with both county DOT & Building Departments.

Too much work, not enough manhours. 300 feet of driveway first. Time is thin.

Ahhh, the blessings and curses of having property! I'm living that dream too except at times it's a nightmare!
