Hello Skoolie world

I'm new here
We ( the wife and I ) bought a 2002 Amtran RE 13 window bus a little over a year ago. I'm just starting to work on it.
The engine is a T444e and the trans is the Allison 3060.

Now that we are both retired we intend to tour the country in it.

We have pulled the seats, converted the door system from pneumatic to an RFID controlled electrical system, and now removing the wiring for the school bus systems.

Next up are heat and roof raise.

I'd love thoughts or comments.

Thanks
Jon P

Welcome to the journey!

I have two RE Amtran just like yours, a '99 and a 2005!
Lots of room!

Here's my build thread on my '99.

Thanks ewo1
those schematics will help. I'm located in Virginia. Just north of Richmond.
Thanks for the help. it's going to take a while to get comfortable with this platform, but I'll get some pics out fairly soon. right now I'm still in the demo process. Next is a 10" roof raise, then I can insulate and do the build out.

Hey, i am not against roof raises, I went 18" on mine but before you begin, do yourself a favor and get your bus insurance FIRST!

It has gotten real hard to get insurance for a raised roof.

I would first get your insurance and then do the roof raise. many insurers will ask for pics when applying so at the very least, do your homework first.

right now I got Progressive commercial insurance, not cheap!
